Vicky Pert

Vicky volunteered in 2006 after her retirement as a barrister who worked as a Prosecutor for most of her career, specialising in youth work.  She then became an inspector of the Crown Prosecution Service. She has visited our projects in Thailand several times and is currently the Chair of Trustees. Vicky also provides KHT with legal support using her expertise gained througout her career.

Tom Wright

Tom volunteered for a predecessor charity to KHT in 1988 and again in 1992.  He has been a trustee since its formation and is currently the Treasurer.  As a qualified Chartered Accountant working in Edinburgh for an investment company, Tom provides KHT with expert financial advice.

Jenny Delaney

Jenny volunteered with KHT in 2001, working on a clean water project, and became a trustee in 2016.  Jenny grew up in the UK, graduating from Cambridge University with a degree in economics and is now based in New York working as a client portfolio manager for Morgan Stanley. Jenny's main role on the board is to support US-based fundraising activities.

Richard Ellis

Richard Ellis has lived in Thailand for 35 years where he runs a Company engaged in commercial and industrial representation for Government programmes. He formerly worked for the UK Government Economic Service and Standard Chartered Bank. As he is based in Thailand, Richard leads on Thai fundraising activities and provides support to KHT's Thai foundation.

Beth Wiggan

Beth became a trustee in 2013 having been involved with KHT since she volunteered on a water project and as a teacher in 2004. She read Social and Political Sciences at the University of Cambridge and is now an academic at the Institute of Criminology in Cambridge. She is the Research Manager of a large ten year study into the causes of youth crime and author of a number of criminological publications. Beth uses her vast research knowledge to support KHT on data collection and project evaluation.

Chad Shampine

Chad volunteered with KHT in 2001, working on a clean water project.  He received his B.A. from Columbia University in economics and mathematics, continuing on to graduate degrees at the University of Cambridge and Princeton University. He is currently a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley, based in New York, with responsibilities in currencies and international markets. Chad supports KHT with all US-based fundraising activities and through his knowledge of currencies and international markets.

Barney Smith

Barney Smith is a former British Ambassador to Thailand. During his diplomatic career he lived in Bangkok for more than ten years in three different postings. He was also Ambassador to Nepal, where he was closely involved with the British aid programme. Barney uses his experiences within Thailand to support KHT with its in-country acitvities.

Tom Nickson

Tom was a volunteer on a KHT water project in 2001 and became a Trustee in 2017. He has been Secretary since October 2018. Tom is a Senior Lecturer at The Courtauld Institute of Art, where he teaches on medieval art and architecture. As Secretary, Tom supports the successful governance of KHT.

Daniel Shurman

Dan worked as a volunteer in Thailand in 1987-1988 and was involved in some of KHT’s earliest water and healthcare projects. Dan is a derivatives and structured finance partner at Allen & Overy LLP (an international law firm) and is a member of the firm’s Board and leads its Brexit contingency planning team. Dan became a trustee in January 2017 and Vice Chair of Trustees in October 2018. Dan is based in London and is married with two children. He uses his wealth of knowledge to support KHT on all legal matters, as well as operating as the Vice Chair of Trustees.

John Heelham

John volunteered for KHT on a water project in 2005, and became a trustee in 2020. John read Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Cambridge. For over 10 years he has worked in the development and humanitarian sector as a WASH & Engineering expert, working and living in over fifteen countries. He is currently a Global WASH Advisor at a large NGO and will provide KHT with WASH technical support.
