Below are a set of quotes from previous volunteers about their experience while living and working with the Karen.
"Those 2 months I spent in Thailand in the summer of 2001 inspired me. It is a time I keep coming back to, a time whose full impact I only realised with time. Age 19 I had thought I was going to the Karen village to give - donate my money and my time to help a people in need. And in return I would leave with the feeling that I had "made a difference". I completely missed the point. In reality I gave very little and took away so much."
Jenny Delaney, 2001
Water Systems:
"I feel quite honoured to have been given the chance to take part in such a successful project involving such a brilliant Karen community. I have come away from the project feeling both inspired by their determined team approach to their way of village life and very rewarded to have made such a positive impact."
Sophie Rix, July 2008
"Unique and eye opening experience into a different culture. Amazing, fantastic, perfect"
Jessica-Anne Hudson, August 2008
"It was an extraordinary experience living with the Karen, and I learnt a lot about myself, other people and the wider world."
Jenny Ironside, July 2007

"First of all I would just like to say thank you so much for this wonderful gift that you have given me. I never thought it was possible for one person to influence my life so much. Your charity is a true blessing for all of those who participate in it. The givers and the receivers. So thank you."
Joey Kaune, October 2008-March 2009
"Sometimes frustrating, always tiring but it was the single greatest experience of my life so far. Your enthusiasm makes or breaks this trip."
Jonathan Pemberthy, July 2007-August 2007
"Amazing, fun and probably the thing I'm most proud of : it's been a real journey."
Alex Gardiner, October 2006-March 2007
