After we receive your application, you will be interviewed in person by the Director of the charity, or an ex-volunteer. If you live outside the UK the Director of the charity will interview you over the phone.

You'll be expected to attend an induction day prior to leaving, to provide you with an introduction to Thai culture and the environment you'll be working in.

If your application is successful, you will need to raise up to £1750 (depending on your length of placement) gift-aided as a donation to the trust. This money goes to supporting the Karen people in the work you will be undertaking in Thailand and costs on your placement. The trust can support you in raising these funds, but the responsibility is ultimately yours. The total cost of air-fare, pocket money, visa, vaccinations and insurance is likely to amount to a further £1500.

Do you have any (or have you suffered from) any diagnosed medical conditions?

Please make us aware of any condition at all, as it will help us with organising your placement (for example diabetes, an eating disorder, a heart attack, depression etc.)

Are you available for an interview in the UK?

All applicants will normally be interviewed in the UK, if this is not possible other arrangements can be made.
