What our volunteers said...
Below are a set of quotes from volunteers about their experience while living and working with the Karen Hill Tribes people in Thailand.
"Those 2 months I spent in Thailand inspired me. It is a time I keep coming back to, a time whose full impact I only realised with time. Age 19, I had thought I was going to the Karen village to give - donate my money and my time to help a people in need. And in return I would leave with the feeling that I had "made a difference". I completely missed the point. In reality I gave very little and took away so much."
Jenny Delaney
Water Systems:
"I am pretty sure I am speaking for the other volunteers, but we were so proud when the tanks were finished. We could stand there looking up at these tanks and physically see that our work was doing something good for all these amazing people that we had the privilege to work with."
Lindsay Clements
"This project was a fantastic experience to enjoy another culture and give a lasting gift to a people less fortunate than ourselves. All seven of us in the team loved the whole experience, despite its many challenges and tests. The Karen themselves were a joy to be around, always smiling and so helpful whenever they could be. I would recommend this project to anyone looking to get involved with practical volunteer work abroad; it was a really beneficial experience for all of us."
Ben Osborne
"I feel quite honoured to have been given the chance to take part in such a successful project involving such a brilliant Karen community. I have come away from the project feeling both inspired by their determined team approach to their way of village life and very rewarded to have made such a positive impact."
Sophie Rix
"Unique and eye opening experience into a different culture. Amazing, fantastic, perfect"
Jessica-Anne Hudson
"It was an extraordinary experience living with the Karen, and I learnt a lot about myself, other people and the wider world."

Teaching Placements:
"My Karen mother was called Sum-See and she was one of the kindest and most generous people I have ever met. Throughout my time in the village she provided me with amazing food and the most brilliant care I could ever have imagined."
Claire Grief
"This was an amazing experience and I am not looking forward to leaving all my students and the other volunteers. Thank you for making this part of my life unforgettable"
Lindsey Clements
"First of all I would just like to say thank you so much for this wonderful gift that you have given me. I never thought it was possible for one person to influence my life so much. Your charity is a true blessing for all of those who participate in it. The givers and the receivers. So thank you."
Joey Kaune
"My trip to Thailand gave me far more than I bargained for. I have learnt so much about so many different things. Of which many I only realised when I returned home. I still reflect on how much happened and how much it has affected me-all for the better I believe. Some of the ideals I brought back I still use today. The friends I made out there were what made my life there so special and the depth of the relationships I had with them was unbelievable. I would love to re-visit my Karen family who were amazing and I would also love to see the students again."
Scott Jagger
"Sometimes frustrating, always tiring but it was the single greatest experience of my life so far. Your enthusiasm makes or breaks this trip."
Jonathan Pemberthy
"Amazing, fun and probably the thing I'm most proud of : it's been a real journey."
