Install a Water System
We are looking for volunteers to join this years summer water teams in July and August 2008. You will spend 4 weeks (5 weeks including travelling) installing a clean water system in the mountainous forests of northern Thailand.
You will live with a team of volunteers from the UK in a remote Karen Hill Tribe village, digging trenches in the mountains, laying pipes and building large water tanks. You will work alongside the Karen people and experience the life in the village, celebrating the arrival of clean water with a village party.

The ChallengeThis is a challenging experience which can be life changing and is certainly an added bonus to any CV. The project will require commitment, an ability to work as a team and the wish to gain an understanding of another culture and make a difference.
The Requirements
All candidates must be over 18 and will be required to raise a £500 donation which will be used to help the Karen people, plus your air fare, visas
etc, amounting to a further £1000.
The Difference
There are currently still 100,000 Karen in the region without access
to clean water - installing a water-system leads to a dramatic
reduction in typhoid, dysentery and other diseases. In villages where
they have been installed, typhoid has fallen by up to 90%.
