Weaving is a traditional skill that is very much part of the Karen way of life. The Karen women sit on the floor of their houses and make their own clothes and bags. With their feet pushed against a wooden ledge, they will use shuttles made from bamboo or wood to thread the different patterns. The patterns are kept in their heads and passed down from previous generations.
