Home Our Projects University
So far this project has:
  • Sent nearly 200 students to university, helping them to help future Karen by providing an academic skills base for future generations.
  • Awarded 16 scholarships for vocational courses.

The chance of a place at vocational college or university is the passport to future employment. Many families are very poor and cannot afford the fees.

The trust has worked with SET, the Richard Hua Trust and the Whitegates Children's Trust in funding university placements for Karen students. We would like to thank them all for their continued support on this project.

Karen students study nursing, environmental and community studies, teaching, accounting, engineering etc. Karen students often go to Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai university. They are personally selected according to their means and academic ability and monitored and supported throughout their time at university. Students are encouraged to write annual reports to KHT.
