Dear friends and supporters,

For the past few years KHT has been focusing on our monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes, with the aim of both fully understanding our impact internally and being able to evidence our work externally. We believe this is a vital function all charities should undertake to ensure we are serving our communities to the best of our abilities, and promotes transparency and learning within the sector.

We are pleased to present you the findings from our first major study, looking at our livelihoods projects that supports subsistence farmers through the construction of flood-resistant irrigation systems. The study uses a dataset of nine projects implemented in 2019 and 2020, taking surveys from 20% of beneficiary households prior to the project and one year on.

The results of this work are hugely encouraging, showing statistically significant changes to incomes, crop yields, damage from natural disasters, and food security. The report also highlights where we need to investigate further, and we intend to be updating and expanding our research in the coming year.

We are also closing off similar datasets for our education and WASH work, and hope to be able to present our findings here in due course. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or feedback in the meantime.
